Luba is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren in the United States, France, and Ukraine.

Luba was born in 1926 in the village of Wasiuczyn, near the city of Ivano-Frankiusk in western Ukraine. She experienced a difficult childhood, losing her mother at age 11. She was then raised by her paternal grandparents and Aunt Julia. At age 18, she emigrated to Paris, France, working as a housekeeper and waitress. During World War II, she met her late cousin William Hryniw who was an American serviceman on assignment to France. William helped Luba immigrate to the United States in 1951, where she met the love of her life, Bohdan, and got married a year later. Together they built a beautiful life through hard work, faith in God, and incredible perseverance. They bought their dream home in Irondequoit in the late 1970's which became the setting of many happy family gatherings over the years with their children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Luba loved to cook, bake, garden, share her Ukrainian culture, and tell wonderful stories. She especially loved to feed people and pets. She spoke five languages, and stayed mentally engaged through reading, word puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune until her last days. We are grateful to the Rochester Regional Health Hospice team for their support and to the caregivers who lovingly tended to her needs over the last few months – Sheri, Gail, Alla, Coretta, and Emily.
