I cannot tell you how sad I was to learn of the loss of my special friend,Jean. Those who were fortunate enough to have had a personal contact, had their lives enriched. There will be countless accolades, praises and fond rememberances of Jean, but none should mean more than to simply know she was truly a good person, who we loved and respected. I first met Jean through golf as we both shared the love of that special sport. In the last several years I would see her at Wegman's and she would always stop to chat mostly about her children and grandchildren. She loved to share stories about her family. I always came away from every conversation with the same thoughts of her spirited, upbeat personality despite the loss of her husband and son. She set a great example for me and all those who knew her. May God heal your broken hearts during this time of great loss. Sue Stone

I metJean in the 70's but not as a sports writer. she found out that I was living in one room over a garage, at my place of business. because of lack of space, I had a loft built at oe end of the room and installed a water bed. This was very unusual back then, and she asked to interview me for a personal interest article. it was very well done, and we became friends. I was able to do a couple of portraits for her later, one a doule portrait of her and Jack Nicklas and llater a portrait biography of Charlie. what a wonderful person, so glad our lives crossed.
