Obituary of Norman J. Dandurand

DANDURAND - Norman Joseph, age 70 of Rochester, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 6th after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Predeceased by his parents Gabriel and Nathalie Dandurand, Norman was the beloved husband of Nancy (Curtin), to whom he was married to for almost 51 years. A devoted father to Christine Romal (Peter) of Irondequoit, NY, Jeff Dandurand of San Francisco, CA and Douglas (Karla) Dandurand of Irondequoit, NY, he is also survived his by five-grandchildren: Kelsey and Mac Romal, John , Aidan and Ava Dandurand; his sister Michele Smith (John) of Atlanta, GA, sisters in law Carol Nicolay (Richard), Sue Curtin, and brother in law James Curtin (Lorraine); and many nieces and nephews. Born in Montreal, Canada, Norm moved to Rochester, NY with his family at an early age, but spent many years of his life visiting family in Montreal. He married his high-school sweetheart, Nancy, in 1962 and recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary together last summer. Beside his devotion to family, Norm was an employee of Xerox for 40 years before retiring in 2004. He loved the outdoors and had climbed 20 of 46 Adirondack High Peaks. He volunteered with the Red Cross and assisted with Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief. During his long fight with Pulmonary Fibrosis, he was strengthened by the support of close friends and family who reminded us all of how much he was loved and respected. Norm's struggle may be over but his loving and kind spirit will live forever. Friends are invited to meet the family SATURDAY 10:30 AM at SPIRITUS CHRISTI CHURCH for his funeral mass. Interment Private.
