Goettel, Violet
Rockland, ME: Passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband, Carl, sister, Rose Kewin & brothers Art and John Bliss. Mrs. Goettel is survived by her sons, Bruce(Robin) Goettel, Urbana, Il, David(Nancy) Goettel, Murrells Inlet, SC and Tom(Beth) Goettel, South Thomaston, ME, 8 grandchildren: Russell, Daniel, Kate, Christine, Richard, Jennifer, Lauren, and Brian and 1 great grandchild, Lily, nephews/niece Charles Bliss, Barbara Cayley and Robert Kewin
Born on Seabrook St. in Rochester, on 12-14-1915, daughter of Charles & Emma Welz Bliss. She was a 1934 graduate of the Harley School. She moved to West Irondequoit when she got married in 1944. After the death of her husband, Carl, she retired to Harwich, MA where she lived for 20 years and made many friends. She later moved to Applewood, a retirement community in Amherst, MA, and then to a nursing home Rockland Maine after a period of declining health. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, garden, go camping and dearly loved her wonderful grandchildren.
Violet's family will receive friends Saturday 10:00 - 12:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South) where her funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
