This is George spreading Corvette fever. George and I were hired together at Delco in September of 1977. We worked together in the same dept. and once I got talking to him I found we had a lot in common. We both went to Bishop Kearney, George was a few years ahead of me, and we both loved cars. George was a real character at work and we all loved teasing him about always being tanned. After a year of working 24/7 and saving my money George says one day, are you ready to buy a Corvette? I thought he was kidding until he pulled out the new Corvette brochure for 1978. It had a picture of the Silver Anniversary Corvette on the cover. I can still hear George saying there's your car. After thinking about it for a week George took me to his buddy at Frear Chevrolet and I ordered my 1978 Anniversary Corvette. It took a couple of months before I got it, but when the call came that the car was in, it was from George. I said George how did you know? He said I'm here watching them drive it off the truck. Leave it to George to camp out and wait for this car to come in. I think he was more excited about it than I was. I will never forget all the summer nights getting out of work and following George home so he could get his Vette and we would drive around till 3 in the morning. Those truly were the days. Thinking about hanging out with George all those years brings back so many memories and stories and great times. They will be with me forever. God Bless George.

To the father of my children...
The children that I have
is all that I have
and the children that I have is yours....
The love that I have
for the children that we have
is yours and yours and yours.
A sleep you shall have
a rest you shall have
yet death will be but a pause
For the peace of our years
in the long green grass
will be yours and yours and yours
with all my love, Angela

We cannot express our sorrow at George's passing in words. His generosity towards all around him were the essence of his being. His friendship surrounded everyone whose lives he touched with warmth and sincerity. His giving and empathetic nature supported our beautiful daughter in law and our son in their time of need. His loving heart he shared with Coleen and her family as well as his own. George will always live in our memories and will be missed greatly.

I have a few thoughts and funny moment about your father,
I went over to the house one winter day, we were in our 20s, and you know your father was very vain about his suntan. Your Grandma answered the door and I asked where George was, she said he was in the backyard. I said to myself WTF there was 2 foot of snow on the ground. When I walked out back there he was laying in a lawn chair deep in the snow with a winter jacket and cap on holding a piece of cardboard covered in tin foil he had made up to reflect the sun on his face!! I can never forget it and still see it to this day it was hilarious!!
When I was a hairdresser I told him I would cut his hair, He let me...and both of us were shittin til I was done...but that was George he put the trust in me and I made sure I didn't screw up whew!!! I was sweatin!! He held a mirror and never took his eyes off my every move!! it was really funny!
You know we were very close always I think because we both respected each other so much and knew each others limits. We never invaded either of our privacy's. I can honestly say we never disagreed about anything, probably because we were both so CAR CRAZY!!. But he was way more over the top than me..I told a friend here in Florida about the fact, that when I moved to Florida in the late 80s, George and I lost contact with eachother..it was just life, we would call occasionally, but honestly we probably hadn't talked for at least 15 to 20 years. Last year I found a 66 corvette convertible in Buffalo and was going to fly in to buy it. I never forgot his phone number and called, he picked up, I told him I was coming in and did he want to go to Buffalo with me to look at and maybe buy the car. Of course it was YES!, it was like we had talked everyday for those 15+ years the friendship was just like it was before I left. The person I told the story to said " That is true friendship" and I agreed Yes it was...Your father and I have talked almost everyday since!!..When I heard the odd jobs he was doing to keep busy, I said screw that and brought him to Auction Direct, because I knew he would really enjoy being around cars all day everyday.
One phrase he always used was ZygaZunt..I find myself reaching for my phone sometimes if I see a new vette or something comes on TV..to call him..I will never remove his number...
You and George can always call if you have a question about anything 24/7

George, 45 years is a long time to have a friendship, but still not nearly long enough. I am deeply saddened by your passing and will miss you more than words can explain. My only consolation is that I know that you will be a Corvette dealer in heaven. Rest in peace my friend, Love Fast Eddie. P.S. when I get there I want a piece of the action!

Bridgette & George, I am sincerely so sorry for the loss of your dad. We were a family for nearly 12 years and the childhood memories have been flooding my brain all week. If it weren't for your dad, who would have taught me how to drive? The family vacations, his support at all of our sporting events, always looking out for the best interest of his children... that made him truly a great father. No matter what has happened in the past I am ALWAYS here for you guys. Stay strong. Love you both <3

Our hearts are broken - for Coleen and the girls and for the Claery family. George, you brought peace and love and stability to Col and the girls at a time when they needed it most. You made our son, Christopher, feel at home at St. John Fisher, often showing up at his baseball practices and games unannounced with his grandmother, which meant so much to us. We are so grateful to have known you, even if too briefly. You were more than just a good man, more than just a friend - you were our brother. We will never forget you. God bless you and rest in peace.
