Obituary of John A. Batzold

Batzold, John A. Sr. Rochester: Sunday, December 21, 2014. John died peacefully at the age of 93 at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy E. Batzold; his daughter, Lauren Jacobs, and his son, Thomas Batzold. John leaves two sons, John A. (Joan) Batzold, Jr. of Webster, NY and Alan (Kathy Sammons) Batzold of Wyoming, NY; son-in-law, Paul (Nancy) Jacobs of Denver, CO, and daughter-in-law, Pam (Tim) Malone of Prescott, AZ. He is also survived by grandchildren, Lindsay (Greg) Chambers of Fairport, NY, Thomas Batzold of Penn's Grove, NJ, Allie (Dan) MacKenzie of Webster, NY, Carly (Chris) Brooks of Irondequoit, NY, Scott (Rebecca) Batzold of Rochester, NY, Meredith (Ben) Schwarz of Pottstown, PA, and Chris (Katie) Jacobs of Thorndale,PA. He leaves behind six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and friends. John was an avid hunter, fisherman, and boater. He was a veteran of WWII with the Army's 90th Division, and a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. He was a long-time employee and retiree of Kodak's Apparatus Division. Born in Rochester, he spent his childhood in Waverly, NY. His family moved back to Rochester, where he married and raised his family, until Dorothy and John retired to their cottage on Keuka Lake. In recent years he resided at Valley Manor Assisted Living in Rochester, NY. Friends are invited to calling hours on FRIDAY, December 26, 2014 from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the Harris Family Center (560 Kings Highway South, Rochester, NY, located behind the Funeral Home) Interment will be at White Haven Cemetery on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., please meet at the gate.
