Morris, Leland A. "Bunky" Rochester: Leland A. "Bunky" Morris peacefully passed March 14, 2015 at the age of 95. Born in Norwich, NY on October 30, 1919, Bunky was the son of the late John and Emma Woods Morris. He was predeceased in 2007 by his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Denmark Morris. Bunky graduated from Norwich High School in 1937 where he was a member of the Norwich football "Dream Team". This team was untied, unbeaten and unscored upon! Bunky began his college career at Syracuse University; it was interrupted in 1941 by his enlistment in the United States Army. After his service, he returned to Syracuse University as a "triple threat football player". Triple threat being pass, run and kick. He never came off the field! Bunk graduated from Syracuse University with a business degree in 1946. He had offers from several NFL teams, and he chose to play for the Washington Redskins. He and his wife Betty moved to Irondequoit, NY to start his successful career of 32 years with Eastman Kodak Company. After raising their five children and seeing them all through college, they retired and bought a sheep farm in Scio, NY. From farming to the Finger Lakes in 2003, Bunky and Betty established a waterfront home on Seneca Lake. Bunky enjoyed playing euchre, watching baseball, throwing horse shoes, reading, gardening and his 5:00PM "Hearthini". He truly loved spending time with his extended family. Bunky was fortunate enough to enjoy all of these wonderful experiences in New York, Hawaii, Florida, and Tennessee. He is survived by three sons, John ( Martha ) Morris of Big Springs, TN, Jay ( Mary) Morris of Cuba, NY, Jeffrey ( Laurie Richer) Morris of Dundee, NY ; two daughters, Jill Morris of Rochester, NY and Dale Morris of Berkeley, CA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren ; niece Penny Morris and nephew Jon Morris, both of CA. Bunk was predeceased by one brother, Ron Morris in 2000. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family, and in lieu of flowers, they respectfully request any donations be made to the Veteran Administration Outpatient Clinic, 465 Westfall Rd. Rochester, N.Y., 14620 Bunky loved life and lived it to the fullest with kindness and tenacity. He had a great run. May he rest in peace.
