Obituary of Guillermina Miranda

Miranda, Guillermina Irondequoit: Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Guillermina Miranda passed away on March 21, 2015 at the age of 93. Predeceased by her husband Oscar C Miranda. Guillermina is survived by her children Miriam (Berardo), Oscar (Ivette) and Edgar (Bernadette); her grandchildren, Javier (Michelle), Melissa (Elio), Miriam Estela, Matthew, Amiilis (Luis), Marie (Abdiel), Lori, Jessica (Dwayne), and Justin (Kristin); her great-grandchildren, Nicole, Zolin, Natalie, Armand, Abdiel, Ayanna, Luke, Esteban, Elliot and other family members and friends. Guillermina was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico on June 26, 1921. She lived there until she married and moved to New York City in 1948. She was married to Oscar C. Miranda on October 6, 1948, they were together until he passed away in 1972. Guillermina was first and foremost a loving mother and homemaker but she did work many years from her home as a seamstress. Her primary love was her family although she greatly enjoyed music and the Spanish speaking T.V. soap operas. She was actively involved with the Good Neighbor Church in New York City. She did volunteer work visiting hospitals, nursing homes and shut-ins. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Council and continued to support Mission work until the end. The family wishes to thank all those who visited Guillermina in these last months and provided emotional and spiritual support during this time to her and the family. The family also wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the aides and the medical staff at the Independent Living for Seniors facility that cared for their mother. Their care, compassion and grace did so much to make her last days peaceful and tranquil. Her family will receive friends WEDNESDAY 2:00 - 4:00pm & 7:00 - 9:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family THURSDAY at 10:00am at the SPANISH CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE (99 Stonewood Ave.) for her funeral service. Reverend Luis Montalvo will officiate.
