Obituary of Denise R. Hoagland

Denise Arnould Hoagland, the daughter of Leo and Margaret Arnould, was born on May 9, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. She died peacefully at the Leo Center for Caring Hospice, on September 10, 2016, after a short battle with lung cancer, but a long battle with so many other illnesses. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Richard Arnould and her sister, Charlene Arnould Pizzuti. Denise was a 1965 graduate of St. Agnes High School. After graduation, she met the love of her life, David C. Hoagland, at Bausch and Lomb. She spent most of her working career in positions where she was able to be around people. One of her last positions was working at Irondequoit High School where she touched the lives of many. She had a great sense of humor, was a licensed clown and spread joy wherever she went. She enjoyed making people laugh, sharing a good story, going out to lunch and cooking. However, one of the biggest joys in her life was being a grandmother to The Brothers McNamara (Conor, Owen, Daniel and Aidan) and David Anthony Hoagland. Denise is also survived by her husband of 48 years, David C. Hoagland. She leaves behind her daughter, Suzanne (Sean) McNamara of Oviedo, Florida; her son, Steven (Laurie) Hoagland of Pine Bush, NY; sisters-in-law, Catherine Arnould and Barbara Hoagland; brother-in-law, George Walsworth; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She will be missed by many dear friends who were like family. Her family will receive friends FRIDAY, 4-7pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family SATURDAY, 9:30am at St. Kateri at St. Margaret Mary Church for her funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Denise’s memory, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
