Jim interviewed and hired me for my first and only teaching position in 1965. Two years later he appointed me as a junior high social studies coordinator. Until his retirement, he was my only principal. If I was an effective teacher, I owe it to his good judgment and faith in me. Jim encouraged me and my colleagues to experiment and try creative approaches. I'm sure we were a helter-skelter band, but he provided a calming hand. We put him through much. In retrospect, we were fortunate Jim was our principal -- I can only imagine a different type would have rained down upon us.
I'm happy he enjoyed such a long, enjoyable life. My sympathies to Marie and all the family. I'm proud to have known such a fine individual.
