I just found out that Bob had passed yesterday. Needless to say, it was a shock. Bob and I had just reconnected 3 years ago, naturally, on Facebook. In January of 1960, I went to work for John Hancock Life Ins. Co., in Buffalo, I was placed on one of the four staffs in the office in Ellicott Square Bldg., and Bob was a staff Mgr., not mine, but that is where I met him. We became fast friends, playing golf together 2 or 3 days a week, working together in the field, drinking together, he was a man everyone loved, even way back then. Back when I knew him, he usually wore a hat, a fedora type, I think, he had a quiet confidence and swagger that set him apart from others. I left Hancock after 5 years, moved to another city, and lost touch. Bob will never know how he played such an important part in my life, he never knew it, or even intended it, but he was my life's teacher and my mentor for those five years, things that I revered and remembered all my life. My heart goes out to Debbie, who I never met, regrettably, and his entire family. I mourn for you, as much as for Bob, as I know how much a blow it has to be to lose a man such as Bob. You all and Bob's soul will be in my prayers.

My heart goes out to Debbie and Bob's family. Words can not describe how saddened I am by this loss. Bob was such a large part of my life. He was my mentor, my counselor, my teacher, my sounding board and most of all my friend. Bob lived life large and impacted so many people along the way. I haven't known too many people as good hearted and willing to help no matter the situation. He was always helping someone! I never knew him to turn anyone away. He had a brilliant mind and was happy to share his knowledge and his time. I could not have asked for a better friend for all these years. I miss him already.
