Wilson, Steven K.
Livonia: Unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the age of 65. Pre-deceased by his wife, Mary Kay. He is survived by his son, Christopher Wilson; daughter, Sarah (Steven) Sherwood; grandchildren, Oliver & Elizabeth Sherwood; siblings, Debbie Clements, Jodi (Russell) Scudder, Scott Bruman, Cheri (Jeff) Weiner, and Jamie (Victor) Ford and many nieces and nephews.
Steve is best known in his life for his passion for hunting, all things outdoors and storytelling. In his early years, he spent time exploring farmland in Webster, NY, camping and fishing. Throughout school, he was involved in Boy Scouts, both as a scout and counselor.
During high school, he met his mentor and father figure, Walt Campbell. Walt played a large role in Steve's life, helping develop his skills in carpentry, business and busting chops, which led to a 20+ year career at Kodak with many projects along the way.
In addition to work, he had many hobbies and interests. His love for his hunting dogs, not just for hunting, but beloved members of the family. He cherished his family heritage, and sharing that knowledge. Steve also enjoyed doing security for venues like Darien Lake, with his friends, where he met many musicians and collected stories he enjoyed sharing. His love for the sun and warmth took him to places near and far, including Costa Rica, Mexico and Jamaica, to name a few.
In most recent years, Steve spent his time building a home where his grandchildren could grow up experiencing the outdoors, as he did in his childhood. He was famous for his special treats waiting for when the kids arrived at the house. He was referred to as Papa, and loved the bond he shared with both Oliver and Elizabeth.
Steve's life will be honored with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 30, from 2-4pm at Rohrbach Railroad Beer Hall at 97 Railroad St. in the city of Rochester for close friends and family only.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to American Diabetes Association and The Wilderness Society.
