Among my fondest and brightest memories of my childhood involve Uncle Al and Aunt Bernie who were both husband and wife, as well as, best friends. I'd see them just a few times a year at family picnics, birthdays, and weddings. Their relationship was like autumn is to vivid colors. Aunt Bernie made everyone feel special; as though you were the most important person in the room. The moment I'd see her she'd light up and say, "when are you going to give your Aunt Bernie a hug?". It meant the world that she and Uncle Al drove to Pittsburgh to witness my wedding. It was wonderful to see other people respond to their hilarious relational dynamics. Boy did they tease each other. Such lighthearted teasing seemed to be their way of displaying the love and devotion they had for one another. To this day, when I lightheartedly joke with my wife, I think of them huddled together as though it had always been that way. I feel blessed to have witnessed such a loving relationship. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you who loved Aunt Bernie, but they are especially with you Uncle Al. Though I'm sure you have a lifetime of stories to keep you smiling.

We will always cherish our special memories of Aunt Bernie. Especially their visits to our home in Naples. Along with many special times in my childhood. Our prayers are with all within the family. Psalms 46: 1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.
