He was

Loyal
Positive
Our friendship was decades long. The day I got married , he was the first person I danced with! (Nope, not my husband - it was John!) we went on a vacation together, I visited him in the Outerbanks a couple of times and we stayed in touch when he finally moved back. John’s positive outlook and determination to face the medical setbacks he endured was inspirational. He longed to bust out of Hill Haven and just go home. He talked about it often, getting well enough to go home and get on with his life. The night he passed away, I sat outside in the darkness , listening to the birds chirping ,with the warm breeze rushing over me thinking of John. I stared at the beautiful night sky and realized ; John was home, free from all of his medical problems.
