Alercia, Richard J. Fairport: Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the age of 72. Predeceased by his parents, Anthony & Agnes; and brother, Anthony. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Anita M. Alercia; nephew, Anthony T. Alercia, and Mark R. (Amy) Alercia; special friends, Bob Debruin & Stella Koliopoulos. Richard was a 1964 graduate of Edison High School. He then attended University of Buffalo and received his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He had to postpone his schooling, as he was drafted in the Vietnam War, where he served in the Army as a helicopter pilot. Following the war, Richard attended Binghamton University, where he received his Master's in Computer Science. He retired as a Senior Software Engineer, working mainly for Xerox. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Leo Center for Caring, and Lifetime Hospice. His family will receive friends Wednesday 4-7pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy S.), where his funeral service will be held Thursday 12pm. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society- Finger Lakes Region, 1120 S. Goodman St, Rochester, NY 14620.
