I worked with him for many years in Family Court - - and I always respected him and thought so very highly of him. It was his personal character that impressed me the most. My name is Julia, and I knew Peter from Brighton High School, then later some interactions when he was at the Center for Youth, and still later on occasions when he was in the building where I work, when he was there for hearings related to county benefits. I believe that he is well remembered in Brighton for his excellent speech at high school graduation ceremonies, in the midst of the fiery debates over the Vietnam War and civil rights. It's a tragedy to lose such a special person at such a young age. I also feel a particular empathy for Deborah, even though I have not met her, because I too just lost my husband of over 30 years so I truly know the pain of loss that she is experiencing. I extend my sincerest condolences to all of Peter's family in this time of sorrow.

I worked with Peter in the Children's Services unit for years. Smart, gentle, but with quite a cutting wit, he was dedicated to his work and to doing his best for the children of Monroe County. My condolences to his family and close friends. May he rest in peace, knowing that he lived a life full of grace and meaning.
