Hahn, Shirley Mae Crombach Irondequoit: Sunday, March 29, 2020. Pre-deceased by her husband, Robert F. Hahn, brothers Robert, Harold, and Richard; sisters Viola and Hazel. Shirley is survived by her children: Patricia Hahn, Robert (Brynnen) Hahn II, John Hahn, David (Lisa) Hahn; grandchildren, Patricia, Michael, Nicole, Priscilla, Gretchen, Brian, John II, Rachel, Julia, Nathaniel, Lauren; 11great-grandchildren and great-niece Janis Gallina-Wickline. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, daughter, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend to many. She fiercely loved her husband, Bob, and family.Children were always the center of Shirley's attention and they all thrived under her nurturing love. She had the ability to make every person she met feel loved, important and special.Shirley had the gift of gab. Anyone who ever spent time with her was entertained by hours of stories, but she was always there to listen, ready to help in any way she could. In September 1955, she married Bob, the love of her life. She raised her four children in Irondequoit, at the house on Fairlea Drive, which she loved. The house became a gathering place for the neighborhood kids. Before her marriage to Bob in 1955, Shirley worked at Hickok's as a data entry clerk. She later worked at Bishop Kearney High School in the kitchen, where she was proud of the cakes she made, always cutting the slices too big for the kids. She was active in her neighborhood Garden Club, trying many crafts. She took great pride in her ability to crochet, and every new birth or other significant event in her extended family was marked with a new throw or blanket in carefully chosen colors. Shirley loved her Brown Bag Lunch Club, which consisted of friends she knew since elementary school at St. Andrew's. For many years, Shirley and Bob were also regular attendees of antique car shows around New York as part of the Old Ford V8 Club of Western NY. Shirley began losing her hearing as a young woman and became an adept lip-reader. Donations may be made in Shirley's name to Hearing Charities of America/The National Hearing Aid Project. Her family would like to thank the staff at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center for their care of Shirley. A graveside service will be held privately. A celebration of Shirley's life is being planned for her 90th birthday on Sunday, August 9, 2020.
