Spachmann, Gertrude Ida Irondequoit: Thursday April 30 2020 called home to the Lord peacefully at St. Anns at Cherry Ridge in Webster NY at the age of 93. She is predeceased by her parents, Franz and Sophie Fertig; husband, Paul Spachmann; brothers, Max & Valtin Fertig; sisters, Elsa Fertig and Molly Suratny. She is survived by her loving sisters Martha (Franz) Sauer & Erika Naun of Germany; nieces, Barbie (Mike) King and their children Ashley (Marek) Solomianko, Stefanie and Nicole Zornow, Giesela and Christina (Germany); and nephews, Gary (Katie) Sauer and their children Sophie and August, Christoph, Alexander, Michael, Andreas and Peter Fertig and children of all (Germany); brother in law, Werner Suratny; and loyal friend Cheryl. Gertrude loved being surrounded by people, sharing interests, making everyone laugh, and spreading joy. Her life travels beginning in Germany, to living in Australia, and making her home in the United States, she was always surrounded by love. She loved life experiences and elephants, believing them to bring good luck! She cared for everyone around her and worked as a hospice nurse for many years. She would take the shirt off her back to ensure that everyone around her was comfortable. She was the most loving and spunky person anyone had the chance to meet, and left behind wonderful memories for everyone that knew her. The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Ridge in Webster NY for their love, dedication and devotion to her for so many years. They all truly loved and cared for her like family. Gertrude's funeral mass will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church where she was a member for many years. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
