From the time I was on little league fields, to my very last game as a senior you were a mentor to me. I am sooo fortunate for the relationship I was able build with this man over the years. Playing for coach Tisa was the best experience of my baseball career. I give him so much credit for my success not just in baseball but in life. Coach Tisa taught me so much about the game of baseball that some how always helped me in the real world and I’m so grateful for all of that. Every time I’d have a bad game and wanted to give up you were ALWAYS the one that made me push myself to keep going with your positivity. I wish I could hear one more of you’re pep talks coach tis, i aspire to be half the man you were. I love you and miss you coach, R.I.P.

Chuck Tisa was one of the sweetest, kindest men I've ever met. Our families have been linked through friendship for decades, beginning when his niece Leah and I became good friends in grade school, and continuing into high school when my brother Steve played baseball under Chuck's guidance, and when Steve and I got to be friends with the Tisa boys. Long after our generation "left the nest", my parents Eugene and Carol have been blessed to have Chuck and his lovely wife, Chicky, as dear friends. Every mention of Chuck and Chicky by my Mom is quickly followed by a comment about what a beautiful couple they were, how caring and giving the Tisa family is, what good people they are. Indeed, the Tisa family is shining example of God's goodness in this world, and will continue to be part of Chuck's legacy.
I was so saddened to hear that COVID-19 took such a luminous soul from all who loved, admired, and were led by him. May his family, friends, and congregation take comfort in knowing that Chuck is at peace, joined once again with loved ones who were waiting for him, and in the presence of God, whom he has served so well. He will live on in the memories and lives of all he has touched with his good works and gentleness. May God bless Chuck's wonderful family, and surround them with support and love now and always.
With love,
Mary Beth (Tolly) Schroeder

A rare great man has gone to heaven to help God with something. I don’t know what it is, but here he was that man who taught greatness by example, kindness and compassion.
I loved coaching against his teams as they were disciplined and played the game the way it designed. He would always greet our team with a kind welcome. Denny Warren and I got a big hug, smile and let us know where we can get water and take warm ups. Our games were always close and mostly errorless with strategies used by students of the game. His teams hustled, communicated and were in perfect position for every pitch. There was never a better coordinated infield in the league. What most impressed me about Coach Tisa was how much everyone of his teams improved when we met for the second time in the season.
When we passed each other in line after the games. We hugged and said God bless you. Love you buddy. Chuck’s life was his family and baseball. He was a giant of a man at both.

Our brother Chuck, The Coach, was the third of four children born to Nancy and Charlie, Chuck’s namesake as was the Sicilian custom. What those of you who did not know Chuck in his childhood days might find hard to believe, was that he was a very shy child. With two older brothers and a sister, he had a hard time competing for time.
Chuck loved baseball all his life. He was the starting second baseman for McQuaid for three years. In one year of baseball in the Rochester semi-professional league, the three brothers played in the same infield together.
We all go through stages of our lives and, we believe, Chuck found his path when he married Chicky and raised in faith and love their three boys. Chuck always had a strong work ethic. While raising his children and working at Rochester Products for over 35 years, he attended RIT in order to get his college degree. Chuck’s life was consumed with his love for God, his family and everyone he touched.
St. Francis of Assisi was known to have said “Spread the Gospel at all times and when necessary, use words.” Chuck wanted to spread the Good News at all times and he did by his words and actions. This is evident by the many tributes written about him.
Maria, Tom and Steve thank Chuck’s children, Chuck Jr., Tommy and David, for the love, concern and respect they showed us with the daily reports they provided on Chuck’s condition. The three of us can- not express adequately the gratitude we have for Chicky, his most loving wife of 52 years, who supported and was Chuck’s partner in life, helping to shape Chuck into the wonderful person he was. Faith in God and love for his family were the hallmarks of his life and these fostered the beautiful way in which he related to everyone.
Chuck, we love and respect you for the brother and friend you have been and know that if we could talk to you now you would tell us that you have attained the maximum honor and tribute you hoped, prayed and lived for. Happy Father’s Day, Chuck.
With love,
Maria, Tom and Steve

The Rochester District Umpires Association would like to express it's condolences to the Tisa family at this time of grief. Many of us stepped on the same ballfields with Chuck over the years and he was not only a great coach, but he was also a good man. He was a great role model for his players and a fair and respectful person to the umpires, other players, and coaches. We mourn his loss with all of you.
Sincerely,
Chuck Healey - President RDUA
