Dr. Delbert D. Fix Irondequoit - Irondequoit: Monday, July 20, 2020 at age 93. Born on a farm in Pierce, Nebraska on December 10, 1926 to Arthur J. Fix and Anna Havel Fix, Delbert was predeceased by brothers Artie and Sydney and his loving wife of 74 years, Jean. He is survived by children, Susan Stein (Gary), Douglas Fix (Desiree). William Fix (Stephanie), Nancy McCloskey (Michael) of Wake Forest, NC; grandchildren, Gregory Fix (Meghan), Tori, Michael and Conner McCloskey and many nieces, nephews and friends. Del graduated from Pierce High School as valedictorian and a member of National Honor Society. He received a BS and Masters in Chemistry from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and was named to Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honorary and Phi Beta Kappa. Del graduated with a PHD in Organic Chemistry from U of Colorado, Boulder and was awarded membership in Phi Lambda Upsilon national chemistry honorary. Del worked as a research chemist for Eastman Kodak and retired after 35 years. Del was active in I.A.A., PTA, Summerville Presbyterian Church, Seneca Masonic Lodge #797, Damascus Shrine, and the Royal Order of Jesters #3. His hobbies included playing bridge, woodworking, fixing things, ice fishing, traveling and gardening. Del's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.
