Obituary of David F. Dean
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dean, David F.
Irondequoit: Passed peacefully in his home in the presence of his family, Saturday, August 29, 2020. David will be remembered for many things. He was a two-tour helicopter pilot in the 281st Aviation Company serving in Vietnam, where his contributions were recognized by three Air Medals, two Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism while participating in arial flight. Dave worked for over 35 years at the Eastman Kodak Company where he made life-long friendships, met his wife Sue Ann, and shared his creative and analytical talents, along with his love of learning and value on personal relationships. Dave was a devoted father to his three children and instilled his passion for life, and hard work, in them. Those who knew Dave will certainly recall his drive and work ethic: up at dawn and don't quit until the work is done. Dave loved spending time creating in his workshop and was visited by many friends and family over the years, with items in need of repair and projects to be given life. Fishing was another adventure he enjoyed, as much for the activity as the time spent connecting with friends and family.
Dave was first and foremost, Abuelo. For 19 years as their ranks grew, his 10 grandchildren were his companions on endless adventures. Often accompanied by their cousins, friends or any child that wanted to tag along, Abuelo set out with his "minions" to experience the world. Throughout his life he saw the potential in every child and that was not limited to his family. Before grandchildren, it was the children of his friends, and friends to his children that reaped the benefit of this. This larger-than-life man shared his greatest gift with the smallest of us. Above all else, that is his legacy.
David is pre-deceased by his wife, Sue Ann. He is survived by his children, Erin (Angel) Quintero, Matthew (Carrie) Dean, Alana Johns; grandchildren, Gabriel, Aidan, Kaelin, Landon, Evelyn, Bella, Anna, Dean, William & Henry (DW); his siblings, Penny, Lill, Charlie, Bobby, Richard, Jimmy, Gigi, Tina, Tommy and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In adhering to state requirements, all guests are required to wear face masks. Upon entering the building guests will also be asked to use hand sanitizer. Thank you.
His family will receive friends Friday, September 4, 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.) with Military Honors being accorded at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vietnam Veterans of America, P.O. Box 12580, Rochester, NY 14612.
