Obituary of Michael J. Costello
Nov. 24, 1942 - Oct. 23, 2020
Mike is survived by the love of his life Carol (Fonte); two beautiful daughters, Lori Costello-Smith and Staci DiLiberto; and their husbands whom he considered sons, Gary Smith and Russell DiLiberto; his precious grandchildren, who affectionately called him Epa, his "Tootsie" Hannah and his "Buddy" Jack DiLiberto; sisters-in-law Noreen (Joe) Roy and Patricia (Mike) Amoroso; nieces and nephews; many cherished cousins and friends. A special thank you to Lifetime Care, especially Caroline, Tammy and Jason.
Mike was a 1960 graduate of McQuaid Jesuit H.S. Following graduation, he began a 35 year career at Xerox. As a doting father and grandfather, Mike was supportive of his children's and grandchildren's interests and activities, never missing any of their games or track meets. He spent the rest of his free time at his favorite place, "The Camp," doing what he loved: being with his family, hunting, and being on his tractor. He enjoyed carrying on a Costello family tradition of getting together with his cousins to eat, reminisce, and share his recent family history finds. Mike would also get together with his Bonacci cousins for family picnics and "Old Geezer" adventures. He had a special bond with his three cousins, Tom Gargana, Tommy Genthner, and Greg Benson, and his life-long friend, Joe Palermo.
At the family's request, all guests are required to wear face masks. Upon entering the building guests will also be asked to use hand sanitizer. Thank you.
His family will receive friends Thursday, October 29, 4:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Friday, October 30, 11:00 am at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, Inc. for his Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Prattsburgh Historical Society, P.O. Box 384, 19 N. Main Street, Prattsburg, NY 14873 or to Irondequoit Community Cupboard, 4275 Culver Road, Rochester, NY 14622. Arrangements entrusted to Philip F. Profetta.
