Dr. Mack was an incredible teacher and kind soul. She had high standards and expectations, because she saw potential in each student. I studied with her for 14 years from 4-18. She helped me get into the Kentucky All-State orchestra, Governor's School for the Arts, and instilled diligence that I hope to continue to improve upon my entire life. I now perform and teach professionally and realize how fortunate I was to have studied with such an incredible person. Thank you Dr. Mack, may you Rest In Peace.
Sincerely,
Adam Rafferty

What a tresure and privilege to have known her. She was my violin teacher from 1989-1996. Strong memories of lessons ranging from frustrating to fun, her dog Frieda and later Patches, Saturday group lessons at Buena Vista Baptist Church, the frequent play-ins, recitals, and focus on ensemble work. Looking back, there is so much respect for how she championed each indvidual student while creating an environment for collaboration, team work, and respect among her students. A sad loss, but forever fond memories of her remarkable talent and love for music and her students.

Spent many a Saturday morning at group lessons and evenings after school . My daughter took violin from Dr Mack and loved it. Wonderful experience with Christmas concerts, recitals, and Bluegrass performances. Enjoyed Dr Mack and her schnauzers! Still have the beautiful violin and bows that Dr Mack recommended we purchase. Hoping for granddaughters to start lessons soon. My sympathy to all her family at this loss. She will be remembered in Owensboro Ky as a vital part of the community as well as an amazing, talented, patient teacher of her many students. I am grateful she was in our lives.

Dr. Mack was a special part of the Owensboro Symphony family. She was a member of the orchestra for nearly 30 years and an Honorary Lifetime member of the Board of Directors. The Owensboro Symphony extends our most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and countless students whose lives she touched with her gift of music.

A gifted instructor, a caring individual , best describes Joan Mack. She was my son's introduction to Suzuki instruction. He flourished under her teaching. It was well-apparent that music was her passion, and passing that love along to others, especially young learners kept her young. She will be missed, but leaves our family with memories to cherish.

Dr. Mack taught my daughter violin lessons. My husband lost his job at that time. We were going to stop lessons until he found another job but Joan said no. She insisted on free lessons for Kelly. That was so sweet of her. Kelly went on to become a doctor and has never forgot her. Thank you. Pat Hoskins

Dr. Mack was such a wonderful person. She made a lasting impression on my daughter who took cello lessons her from many years. My daughter is now passing on her legacy with her two daughters, who started playing when they were 4 years of age.
I wish I could have expressed to her our love and respect.
May her family know, she was truly a blessing for Owensboro, and St. Joseph.

I never knew my Aunt Joan. She must be the person genetically responsible for my musical daughter Kristin West and my talented Grandson, Lucas. My father was her brother William. If there is an interment, I would like to be included. My e-mail is Lmackrdh@Gmail.com
Sincerely,
Lorrie (Lorraine) Mack

Dr. Mack taught me cello lesson from age 4-18 in Owensboro. She was a patient and creative teacher and inspired such a love of music for me, especially playing in groups. She had high expectations and always got the best out of us. She will be missed by so many students but lives on with every note we play.

Dr. Mack was my cello teacher. I don’t think there was anyone in the world better at teaching kids string instruments. She is the reason I am still in music today, and will always be a inspiration to me. I am so very grateful to have had her in my life. Her musical spirit lives on in me and the long list of her accomplished students.

Dr. Mack lived at the other end of my street. I frequently saw students of all ages coming and going from her little brick house. Also music could be heard coming from that address. She will be missed.
