Jon was my “ big” brother. His heart was so full of love that he needed that large frame to house it. Both being the father of three amazing women we had a special bond. We had countless conversations about the joys and trials of being in a household full of women. Jon was so open and honest about his faith. It was truly refreshing, encouraging and edifying.
After Jon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Jerry and I enjoyed taking Jon to lunch each month at Boulder’s Cafe. I loved seeing how much he enjoyed eating. As I gazed upon his empty plate I’d ask him, “How was that?” and he’d always respond with a big smile, “It didn’t suck!”
I miss my “big” brother. I’m so thankful that the Lord allowed our lives to intersect and I’m even more thankful that he is in the presence of Jesus.

Dad loved you, Leon. Even when his Alzheimer's was at some of its worst points, you brought him comfort. Thank you for being his friend and his brother throughout these years. Instead of shying away or recoiling when things reached their toughest points, you and Cheri leaned into this illness and your friendship with my parents. The value of that friendship cannot be understated, nor can the love both Dad and Mom have with the two of you. I will miss seeing the way Dad lit up in your presence.

My “Brother Jon” An uncle to my grown baby Delivering huge bear hugs every Sunday morn His howls of laughter as big as his heart echoing in stupendous sforzandos
A brother to my “only child” spouse Sharing joys, sorrows , burgers, ice cream, action movies and popcorn.
A guitarist without guile serving up delicious,
bluesy licks Gently nudging me to, “ Sing now. - cry later!”
A brother bestowing perspicacious perspectives
Wordsmithing his prayers and puns
until the words refused to come
A precious lover of life and Christ
No longer weeping...
All my love in Jesus,
Cherí France

Jon Day was an amazing man that I had the privilege of meeting through the Alzheimer’s Association. He was a tireless advocate and inspired everyone around him. To my great delight and surprise, Jon and Cheryl became our neighbors in 2018, when we moved into our first home. Our relationships grew and I had the pleasure of meeting Jon and Cheryl’s children and grandchildren. Jon’s smile, laughter and easygoing personality made me feel like part of the family. He will be missed but we know he is rejoicing in heaven, finally at peace.

We cherish the many years we shared a meal with Jon and his family as we become part of the 'Outcast' group. We laughed, ate good food and shared life. Thank you for the insight and growth as Christians, especially when we needed encouragement and grace. Much love, Ann Marie and David

Please accept our deepest condolences. I knew Jon when we were both students in college, but had lost touch with him since then. I remember him as a funny and compassionate "older brother" figure, who was never at a loss for knowing how to make you feel cherished and more interesting. It does not surprise me that his obituary presents a man who was capable of loving and being loved so intimately and so fully.

Dear Cheryl, Emily/Peter, Rylie/James and Jayna and all the grandchildren. You have our deepest sympathy in the loss of your Beloved. We knew and enjoyed Jon for many years. His stories, his laughs his larger than life personality are all part of our remembrance. And of course his ability to eat a whole quart of ice cream at one sitting were part of Big Jon.
We knew him and met him and worked with him as part of a Christian Church Fellowship. He sang in a choir at one point, worked on a greeting team and faithfully attended a weekly prayer meeting at 6.30 a,m, Best of all he knew Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. He and Cheryl opened their home to friends and made us feel comfortable. And yes, Cheryl provided the humor a lot of the time!
We are praying for God's comfort for you all as you grieve your great loss.
With love
Robin and Joan
