W. Irondequoit: Saturday, June 19, 2021 at age 86. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Lois Butler; children, Michael (Kathleen McGrane), Donna, Barbara (Chris) Butler-Moore, Mark (Janey), Joanne (John) LeClair; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bruce (Nancy), Dian (John) O'Connell, Donald (Karen), Richard; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Ernest J. Butler and Marcella Dewey.

He was born in Sidney, NY and moved to Rochester as a young boy when his father was hired at Eastman Kodak Company. Gerry attended School 42 and Charlotte High School, class of 1953.

He joined the Navy in October 1952 and received an Honorable Discharge in April 1953. Then, joined the Army April 1954. On August 21, 1954, he married Lois Clark, his High School sweetheart. Gerry was employed by Eastman Kodak Company, Roll Coating Division, from which he took an early retirement in 1986. He also was proprietor of Butler Roofing when where he taught his sons how to put on a roof. They both ran the business for a time after he retired to travel with Lois. He was also a licensed Electrician and worked part-time at St. Joseph’s Villa for approximately four or five years.

Gerry and Lois traveled frequently, following one of their daughters who frequently moved with her husband as he followed his career. They also went to California three times. Other hobbies included playing golf and fishing. During his high school years, he ran track and did a lot of ice skating. The Horticulture Department at Charlotte is where he derived his love of flowers and landscaping. He could be found working in his flower gardens when he wasn’t golfing or fishing.

Besides being a veteran, he was a life member of the DAV.

Friends are invited to join the family Saturday, June 26th, 11:00 AM at Summerville Presbyterian Church for his memorial service. A reception will immediately follow at church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimers Assoc., 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.
