To the Orczyk Family:
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of Thomas. I wish you all peace and comfort during this time.
As a fellow Friend of Bill W., I met Thomas over seventeen years ago. It was always a delight to see him and talk to him, usually at Culver-Durand. He was always positive and upbeat, and quite colorful in some his fancy shirts!
He always said yes whenever I asked him to speak at a meeting. I remember him teaching me the proper Polish pronunciation of “Wizniowka.” I also remember his famous story of aspiring to be canonized as Saint Thomas of Rochester!
The last time I saw his was several years ago. He was leading a meeting in which I obtained a coin to celebrate my thirteenth year of sobriety. I was very glad that he was present that evening to share my anniversary.
I will Thomas a lot, but I will always remember him (especially when I petition the papacy for his beatification)! I wish you all the best during this time of transition.
Best regards,
Chris C.
