Obituary of Patricia Anne Chapman
Patricia Anne Chapman of Naperville, IL, passed away Saturday, Aug 21 at the age of 69, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Anne Nowak, and her devoted husband and soul mate, Ken Chapman. She is survived by her loving children, son, James and daughter, Mai; 2 grandchildren; brothers, Dick (Karen), Tom (Becky), Dave (Mandi); sister, Susan Moritz; brothers in law, Dorsey (Sharlotte), Orville "Jr" Chapman; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long best friend, Janice Sojka.
Pat was proud to have been born in Rochester, NY where some of her fondest memories were the shenanigans cooked up with her many cousins there. Pat also lived in MN, IL, FL, TX and WV. She enjoyed her dogs, camping, museums, all things ancient Egyptian, and beach combing. Her most favorite activity may have been her "time at the boat". Pat was always ready for a night out, and quick to point out her favorite meal there of a "12 oz. filet mignon, medium rare, loaded baked potato, with well grilled asparagus on the side. And don't forget the triple chocolate cake to take home for later!"
Pat was a perfectionist, and was known for her diverse talents and exquisite craftsmanship. Ukrainian Easter eggs, stained glass, leatherwork, and Native American beadwork were just a few of the things she excelled at. She was a fierce defender of her family, her door and listening ear were always open to her brothers, sister, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Need bail at 4:00 am in the morning? Call Pat. Got nowhere to stay? Pat could always find room. Up for an adventure? Pat's your girl, and by the way, she's already packed.
Patricia Chapman was complicated. Her proficiency in swearing might shock a sailor, and she often could have a very prickly exterior. Those that knew her, however, realized she had a heart of solid gold. With her long braids, and a dog or two at her heels, Pat was unforgettable. Rest in well-deserved peace, Patricia, you are loved.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 1-4pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Kateri at Christ The King Church for her Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
