In Loving memory of our Mom, Florida Norman

Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday morning February 3^rd 2022.  She was 92 years old and a 55 year resident of Irondequoit NY.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Sr and her loving son Joseph Jr. Her sweet mom and dad and six loving brothers and sisters, their spouses and several nieces and nephews.  Her Kitties Minnie, Mrbean and Jadiecat.

She is survived by her Daughter Judy Rotunno, Husband Stephen and Granddaughter Lauren. Son Bob Norman, Wife Jeanine and Granddaughters Jess, Jill & Holly.  Son Tom Norman and Wife Robin along with many loving, special Nieces and Nephews.

Mom was born in Jersey City NJ and grew up in Herkimer and Ilion NY.  She married dad in October 1950 and quickly shipped off to Camp Lejeune SC as a Marine wife.  She had four children but many called her Mom.  A childhood friend recently said it best, “She was a mom to all of us.”  Most of our friends felt that connection and all were welcome. Mom was all about family.  Mom and Dad were busy with the Catholic Church and were Eucharistic ministers for a while.  They were members of St Cecelia Church since moving to Rochester in 1967, then St Salome’s and most recently, Mom was a member of Christ the King.

She loved to cook for her family and everything was amazing because she did it out of love.  Dad used to say mom was a whiz in the kitchen and could make anything out of nothing.  Best sauce anywhere and anyone who stopped by at dinner time got blessed as well.  We have our own version of the loaves and fishes parable from the Gospels that Mom loved to tell. There were five of us for dinner and only one bag of ravioli.  This was just enough to feed us but two friends showed up for dinner.  We gave them each a bowl and two more showed up and they each had a bowl.  Mom and Dad were shocked and there was more in the pot for 2nds.  We always laughed about that.  Mom also loved her time spent passing along her love for cooking and family on to her children and it still lives in those who took the time to be with her and learn.

Mom was the baby of the seven brothers and sisters and the last of that generation to go.  She has left our loving embrace for those who went before.  To hug once again her Mom and Dad.  Our dad and brother Dicky. Her brothers Jimmy(Marie), Freddy(Pat), Americo(Elida) and sisters Rose(Joe), Eva(John) and Viola(Lou).  Her father and mother in-law Joseph and Regina Norman and Sister in-law Margaret(Bill) Hoskins.  Most of all, to be in the loving embrace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she deeply loved. To hear Him say, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

Mom will be buried in a private ceremony at Irondequoit Cemetery next to Dad and their dear friends and neighbors Joe and Flo Cassara.  Once again, Joe & Flo and Joe & Flo will be neighbors.

Last but not least.  Mom would want us to share one of her favorite bible verses.  Psalm 121:1&2 - I will lift mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Hospital or a charity of your choice so that others may be blessed.  Mom would like that.
