Obituary of Barbara C. Peters

                                                Barbara Peters (Chapman)

                                                    6/24/1930-2/13/2022

Barbara passed away peacefully on February 13^th surrounded by her children and grandchildren, sister, and niece in Lake Worth FL. She is predeceased by her parents Helen and Horace Chapman, her husband Charles F. Peters, her niece Melinda Gippe Andrus, and her nephew Richard Allison. She is survived by her children; David (Lorrie), Elizabeth, Robert (Chaan), her sister Beverly Allison and sister-in-law Virginia Caliguiri. Grandchildren; David Joseph, Jennifer and Dale Peters, Kayla Jaconette, and Ambrielle Capps-Peters. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara was a graduate of East High School, class of 1948, and Highland Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1951 in Rochester, N.Y. She worked at Highland Hospital, Rochester General Hospital, Bel Aire nursing home in Oakland N.J and adult day care centers in MD. Barbara’s mother was a nurse, her daughter and granddaughter are nurses, and she loved sharing stories of the history of nursing while making comparison to their experiences of today. Barbara was fascinated with new technology and what changes were taking place in health care.

Barbara and Charles were married in Rochester on July 29,1955. Over the years their family grew to include three children: David, Elizabeth, and Robert. The family enjoyed travel together including places like Stowe Vt., California, Myrtle Beach, and a family cruise for their 50^th wedding anniversary. Many happy summers were also spent at the family cottage in Seabreeze. Charles’s work took Barbara and their children to California, New Jersey and Maryland. Upon retirement they settled in Jupiter, Florida.

Barbara was strong willed and fiercely independent with a sharp sense of humor. She was passionate about exercising her right to vote, and loved to volunteer for causes she believed in. She spent time with her grandchildren sharing her stories and supporting each of their individual interests. Barbara and her sister had a loving relationship, supporting each other throughout life. She took an interest and remained close with her sister-in-law, her nieces and nephews. Barbara gave much love and guidance to others and will be missed by all.

There will be a graveside service on June 24^th at 11:30 at Riverside Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
