Obituary of Wanda E. Otero

Please share a memory of Wanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wanda E. Diaz Otero of Puerto Rican decent, was born in Manhattan, NY to the late Felix and Carmen Pilar Kuilan on January 11, 1954 and sadly passed away from health complications at the early age of 68 on May 11, 2022 in Rochester, NY.

She is survived by her husband, Miguel and her children, Anthony, Eric, Miguel, Jr., and twin daughters, Jacklyn and Jessica. Her beloved grandchildren, Dee-Dee, Anthony Jr., Jaylen, Jazlyn, Lucas, Lindsay, Amanda, Eric Jr., Eric Anthony, Christopher, Antonio, Miguel Ivan, Morgan, Luna, Major, MAdden, Marrick, Maurice, Monique, Joshua, Jonathan, AMaya, Desiree. Great-grandchildren, Camron, Elijah, and Elliani. Siblings, Gabby, Wilma, Debbie, Roberto and Emily.

Wanda grew up in the Bronx and attended Theodore Rossevelt High School where she stopped 3 months short of graduation to pursue a passion in modeling. In 1976 Wanda was a contestant in both "El Diario La Prensa" in Puerto Rico and Chicago's Latin Beauty Pagent where she finished as a finalist. Her beaty and charismatic personality opened up many doors of opportunity and earned the respect of many people she encountered.

In 1980 she met Miguel and got married. Wanda worked for Lehman Brothers for numerous years and also operated a small business of party souvenouirs. She enjoyed Life by Dancing and socializing with friends, playing board games especially Paechese and loved and cherished walking in the rain and being outdoors and making memories with her children.

Wanda volunteered in after school programs and was involved with school activities for under privelaged kids. Her best gist was that as a part time worker volunteer on the prison Gap bus service. Through her love, Charisma and understanding, Wanda united many broken relationships with children that otherwise would have failed with unknown consequences.

Friends are invited to join the family on May 16, 2022 from 4 to 6PM at the Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Highway South. Funeral service will follow and begin at 6PM. Pastor Jim Grobe will be officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
