Obituary of John H. Horton, Jr.

Major John H. Horton Jr. passed away on Friday July 8, 2022. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years Dorothy A Horton, mother, Constance S. Horton, brother and sister-in-law, Roger S. Horton & Sheila Horton and Niece Dawn M. Horton. John is survived by his children John Horton III (Judith Lessard), Dorothea Horton, Joseph Horton (Sandra Cordova). Grandchildren Jessica Savage, and Mark Cordova. Great Grandchildren, Julia Savage, and Jessene Savage. His beloved Brothers and Sisters Ralph Horton (Kathleen), Rance Horton (Joan), Rosemary Bouchard (Lou), Jeanette Furstoss, and June Piazza (Dom), their children and grandchildren. Brother-in-law Anthony Pucci (Delores). Sister-in-law Angela Pienio (John) and their families and many lifelong friends including his best friend Anthony Battaglia (Matilda). He was always will be remembered as a beloved Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather and Friend

John was born in Buffalo, NY. He proudly served his country in the USMC for over 38 years and retired as a Major. John worked for the Rochester City School District with over 30 years as a teacher and as an adminstrator. In his free time, John enjoyed music and theater, but always cherished the time he spent with his family.

His family will receive friends Sunday, July 17, 4:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to join the family Monday, July 18, 10:00 am at St. Kateri At St. Margaret Mary Church for his funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, The Parkinson's Foundation or Rochester General Hospital in John's memory.
