Murphy, Mary L., 98, died peacefully on August 27, 2022, at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester, NY. Born in 1923 in Rochester to Norman and Isabel Laragy, Mary attended St. Charles Borromeo School, where she met her future husband Donald J. Murphy in kindergarten in 1927. She married Don 20 years later in the same parish. Throughout her life, Mary had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, which she embodied in acts of kindness to the Legion of Mary, Nocturnal Adoration Society, Rosary Society and to her children and children's children. She was a very strong but gentle and softspoken wife, mother and grandmother. Mary was predeceased by her husband Donald J. Murphy; son-in-law, Hank Mannella; parents, Norman and Isabel Laragy; sisters, Jane (Donald ) Walsh, Norma (Thomas) Waters; brothers, William (Rosemary) Laragy, James (Patricia) Laragy. Mary is survived by her loving children, Daniel (Mary) Murphy, Ann Mannella, James Murphy, Patrick (Carol) Murphy; grandchildren, Christopher (Kate), Kristin, Lisa (Ted), Sarah (Steve), Evan, Hannah, Stephen, Theresa, and great-grandchildren, Rose, Joseph, Claire and Amelia; her sister-in-law, Marjorie Sullivan and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary's family will receive friends Friday, September 9, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to join the family Saturday, September 10, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church for her funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
