Thinking of Gordon…. My name is Jerry Cook. My Mom’s maiden name was June Laforce. She was a first cousin to Gordon and I am a second cousin to Gordon. Yet in many ways I think of him as an older brother. Gordon’s Aunt and Uncle, Auntie and Uncle Eddie ran a commercial picnic grounds in Webster. For at least three summers, Gordon, my brother Jim and I lived with Auntie. It was a fun place for us kids. At that time Gordon was considerably older than Jim and I. But he was a great big brother to both Jim and I. We had so much fun as the three of us slept on the porch. And if you don’t know the train story that was etched forever in our memories, ask me and I will tell it. We didn't stay in close contact as we aged and had our own families. We would see each other at large family gatherings and all too often funerals. Yet our bond remained intact as we greeted each other with a hug. Knowing Gordon’s character as a very young man I am not at all surprised as to his dedication to community service with Sea Breeze Fire Department and friends and neighbors. Thank you, Gordon, for being one I am so proud to have a connection to. I am sure God has welcomed Gordon to Heaven.
