Art was the best neighbor! For 7 years I had the pleasure of having a Boy Scout within yelling distance if I ever needed help. Thankfully, there were only a couple of times that either of us had to ask for help from each other. But there were plenty of those neighborly opportunities to assist each other and do kind things for each other, like shoveling just a few extra feet, or driving to the store on a bad health day... We finally got around to exchanging Christmas cards/small gifts during the last couple of years, which I will cherish. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say when we crossed paths, even when he wasn't feeling his best. It has been way too quiet next door since he has been gone - no sounds of Art moving around his apartment doing his day-to-day activities, no more packages being delivered, no more sounds coming through the walls of Art playing his guitar. Art was a blessing to those around him and will be missed.
