Irondequoit: Wednesday, July 26, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Frederick Smith; her beloved children, Vera, Mark (Tracy), and Tania (Kenneth). Lovingly known as "Babcia" to her grandchildren: Nicholas, David, Alexandra, Alica, Julia, Maxym, Maria and Sofia.

Pre-deceased by sisters, Sonia Weaver, Anna Sochockyj, Maria Syplywyj. She is survived by her brother, John Yakymyszyn and sister, Kathryn Pukyrys; nieces, Nadia, Stefania, Luba; Ostap Sohutskay; extended family in Ukraine, Canada, and PA.

Parania was born in Ukraine on March 23, 1937. She worked at Kodak and volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels and Mount Carmel Hospice. She collected elephants and enjoyed listening to Mario Lanza. Parania was a lifelong parishioner of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, and member of the Ukrainian Women's League. She had an exceptionally beautiful voice and was asked to sing the National Anthem at many public events and was a soloist in several choirs. Parania loved her family dearly, and they have many happy memories to give them comfort.

Parania's Divine Liturgy will be held Monday, July 31, 10:00am at St. Josaphats Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to RocMaidan, a non-profit organization providing relief aid to those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine or St. Josaphats Ukrainian Catholic Church.
