George K. Hoenig

2/16/1937 to 07/28/2023

On July 28, 2023, George entered eternal rest at the age of 86.

George was a lifelong resident of West Irondequoit. He went to college at Michigan Techological School to become a civil engineer, he joined the family business, Rappl & Hoenig, in 1961 and worked there until he retired.

George’s positive nature and energy helped him to run a successful ready-mix concrete and block plant, as well as be a loving father and friend to many. He enjoyed family camping trips, travel, and hosting large gatherings with family and their many friends.

George loved to laugh and be around people, and always had cared how others were doing. He and his friends played many practical jokes on each other, and he leaves behind a legacy of outrageous stories. His happy disposition infected everyone around him. He was fun-loving and maintained a positive attitude about life and was always willing to help out friends and strangers alike.

George was endlessly curious and enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, travel, photography.

George and Sandra loved to travel to many places and enjoyed life together.

Predeceased by his brother John Hoenig, son Eric Hoenig, daughter Heidi Hoenig, and son-in-law Paul Simpson. He survived by his beautiful wife, Sandra Roberti-Hoenig, brother-in-law; Eroldo (Palma) Sartini, sister-in-law; Alberta Sacchetti,  daughter; Lisa Gruspier-Simpson, son; Karl (Kristen) Hoenig, his daughter-in-law Christine Hoenig, grandchildren; Angelica Roberti, Steven (Briana) Gruspier, Julia Gruspier, Jake Gruspier, Erica Hoenig, Alex Zine-Eddine and great granddaughter Olivia Gruspier, best friend for life Norman Lopez.

No prior calling hours. A funeral mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary's Church, 401 Rogers Parkway, Rochester, NY 14617 on Saturday, August 12th at 10am.
