Obituary of Josephine E. Funk

Josephine E. (Klaus) Funk, age 92, passed away on July 30, 2023 surrounded by loved ones both physically and in thoughts. She was born September 28, 1930 in Rochester, NY to Joseph and Josephine Sciortino. She married the love of her life, Alfred "Red" Klaus on the 10th of October, 1953 who preceded her death in 1986.

Josephine loved to play cards, (She was always our ace of diamonds), swim, doing puzzles, playing scrabble, and most importantly spending time with family.

"This too shall pass" was her favorite life saying, which is from 2 Corinthians 4:17-18. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Josephine is survived by one sister Julia Ciminelli, Two daughters Robin (Denny) Peters, Cynthia Klaus (Mike); One son Paul Klaus (Cheryl); Eight Grandchildren Joe (Jennifer) Arena, Jessica (Bill) Shamburg, Spencer (Laura) Peters, Crystal Klaus, Daniel Van De Rostyn, Daniel Arena, Ashly (Drey) Piedmont, and Ripley Klaus; Twelve great grandchildren; Two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. One sister preceded her death, Delores Angie.

Friends are invited to join the family at the Harris Family Center (560 Kings Highway South, Rochester, NY) on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 11 to 1PM for a memorial visitation in Josephine's memory. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Low Country Community Church, 4430 Murrells Inlet Road, Murrells Inlet SC, 29576 in Josephine's memory.
