Webster: Monday, August 14, 2023 at the age of 81. Predeceased by her husband, Judson "Jud" Stuart. Andrea is survived by her children, Megan (Robin) Parker, Rhett (Melody) Stuart; sibling, John (Joann) Haley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Together Again

16 days after her husband of 58 years took his last breath, Andrea died peacefully on August 14 in her Cherry Ridge home in Webster, NY.

Andrea Sue Haley was born on August 20, 1941. She and her younger brother John were raised in a godly, family-centered home by two loving parents; she was a genuine daddy's girl. With fond memories of her childhood and time spent with her beloved grandma, she would have been content to never have to grow older, enjoying every day with her family and dolls in her much-loved hometown of Auburn, NY.

Andrea spent many happy hours in her home church of Second Baptist, contentedly involved in regular church activities. Many rich, girlhood friendships were cultivated during these years of Sunday School, youth group, church picnics and summer camp on Owasco Lake. It was at this church where she met her husband, Judson (her first and only boyfriend). Following graduation from Wheaton College with dual teaching degrees, the pair settled in Webster, NY where they built a home and raised their two children, Megan and Rhett.

Continuing in the godly heritage of her family, Andrea was a faithful attender and volunteer at Webster Bible Church, teaching elementary children and working with all youth alongside her husband. She was a talented piano accompanist, always in demand. Andrea loved teaching, successfully transitioning from public school to a brand-new Webster Christian School in the late 70's. There she spent 20+ years investing in young lives; later Andrea went on to teach at North Baptist Christian School. Those privileged to have had Mrs. Stuart as their teacher, remember her creative talent, sense of humor, and petite, stylish fashion sense.

The Stuarts' family life was greatly enhanced by the purchase of the Adirondack property where they built their dream cabin; for 9 weeks they spent happy summers together, sharing pockets of time with close family and friends. Not a huge sun lover, Andrea enjoyed her peaceful times reading or doing crossword puzzles and Sudokus down by the water, tending her flower boxes, taking walks in the woods with neighbor friends, and shopping in nearby Lake Placid. She spent hours playing through hymns and her collection of Christian songbooks on her upright piano (her childhood piano that had been transported to the cabin). As she played, the sounds would drift through the open windows, echoing off the tall pine trees.

Daughter, Wife, Mother, Aunt, beloved Sister-in-Law, Teacher...Yankees Lover! Andrea sure loved her baseball, tracking stats and personal details of the players in a notebook. And second only to the Yankees, was the time she could spend in annual winter trips to Florida with Jud. Such a respite from snowy weather; the south provided scenic views, warmth and sunshine, more crossword puzzles, daily dominoes and Yahtzee games with Jud, and Disney World.

In later years, Andrea lived at St. Ann's Cherry Ridge, where her husband visited with her every day. She spent her life in faithful service to her Lord, and lived out the words of her favorite hymn, "I'd Rather Have Jesus." Knowing that she wasn't perfect, she faithfully and consistently applied herself to the ministry and work to which God had called her. After 16 days apart, Andrea and Jud are together again.

Friends are invited to join the family Wednesday, September 27, 11:00 am at Webster Bible Church (675 Holt Rd) for her memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Samaritan's Purse, at www.samaritanspurse.org.
