Scantlin, James D. of Irondequoit, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  James was predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Kathleen (Green) Scantlin Rice. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Maynard) Scantlin.  Sons, Sean (Marisa Marrocco) Scantlin, and Colin (Bethany) Scantlin.  Grandchildren, Samantha Scantlin, Riley, Ella, and Shea Scantlin.  Siblings, Diane (Eugene) Englert, and Donald Scantlin.  Jim is also survived by, Susan Hallings, John (Diane) Maynard, Norma (Ron) Johnston, Kathy Maynard, Bob (Pam) Maynard, Richard Maynard, Stephen (Charlene) Maynard and Jim (Donna) Maynard.  Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was born in Rochester, NY on January 12, 1945.  He graduated from East Ridge high school.   Jim was a proud member of the UA Local 13 Plumbers and Steamfitters union where he dedicated 56 years of service.  Jim married the love of his life, Jeanne Maynard on November 26, 1966 at St. Charles Borromeo church in Greece, NY.   Jim was always quick to help others and especially taking on plumbing issues for friends and family.  Jim was a faith-filled Catholic and a member of Christ the King church.  Jim drove for Good Samaritans transportation for 17 years. In his free time, Jim was an active outdoorsman enjoying boating, fishing, trips to Indian Lake and hanging out at Eastman Park watching the lake. Jim loved cheering on the Buffalo Bills and Notre Dame Football teams, but he always cherished the time he spent with his granddaughters, family, and his dog Lucy.         

Friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, November 1st from 4 to 7PM at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family on Thursday, November 2nd at 10AM at Christ the King Church for his funeral mass. Interment will follow at Irondequoit Cemetery.
