Obituary of Adele Paquette Mitchell
Adele Paquette Mitchell passed away unexpectedly on November 2nd, 2023 at her home in Rochester, New York. The gates of heaven opened briefly allowing her to join her loving husband Les. She was 80 years old. Her family and friends are deeply saddened by her death. Adele was born on March 5th, 1943.
Adele was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Sylvia (Noyes) Paquette, her husband Leslie Mitchell, her sister Jessie Mayer and nephew Peter Gebhardt. She was a granddaughter of John Humphrey Noyes II and Dr. Hilda Herrick Noyes. She is survived by her sister Nola Paquette DeSimone, and nine nieces and nephews; Paul Gebhardt (Amy), Karin Mayer-Gottlob (Brian), Margaret Morrison (Malcolm), Eric Mayer, Charlotte Mayer-Florian (John), Frieda Mayer-Allen (Jay), Roberta Mayer, Hilda Walters (Jason), David Mayer. Adele is also survived by many loving relatives in England including Barrie Mitchell and his nieces and nephews, Jane, Phillip, Glenn and Stephen.
Adele was born at Oneida City Hospital in Oneida NY. She grew up in Kenwood, NY and attended VVS High School. She earned both her undergraduate degree and Masters from SUNY Buffalo.
Always creative and passionate Del was drawn to the fine arts. She was a gifted teacher at Eastridge High School in Rochester for over 30 years with incredible artistic talent. Her creativity was outstanding in both Graphic and Culinary Arts. One of her favorite places was Nantucket where she married the love of her life in 1997.
Del and Les lived in Rochester and also spent as much time as possible in England where Les was born and raised. They were a perfect match and lived passionately. Del enjoyed lifelong friendships that sustained her love of the world. In a universe bound together by wondrous love, she was blessed. Her spirit will be eternal.
Her family will receive friends Friday, November 17, 5-7pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Saturday, November 18, at 11am at Christ the King Church for her memorial service.
