Obituary of Frances E. Herman "Fran"

Frances Elizabeth Prial Herman age 96, passed peacefully on November 22, 2023 surrounded by family and love.

Born Oct. 24, 1927 to Philip and Mary (Quinn) Prial in Flushing, NY, she was the third of 8 children and last surviving sibling.

After high school she worked as a secretary for a U.S. Army quartermaster's office.

Fran married Loren K. Herman, a former WWII serviceman May 28, 1949 and moved up to Irondequoit, NY where they raised five children. Her husband died in 2000.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, cook, gardener, and a very giving person. Though she never mastered driving, she was frequently seen around the neighborhood on her bike, chatting with neighbors and making new friends. She always seemed to have a smile on her face.

Fran is survived by Brian (Liz), Bruce (Lucy), Laura (Jamie), Keith (Sandy) and David (Dawn) plus grandchildren, Seth, Jake and Terra; Andrew; Emily and Ryan; James; Mitchell and Jordan, plus 6 great-grandchildren.

The family thanks long-time caregiver Kristin Marcott, the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Pittsford, and Saint Ann's Home.
