Sharon O'Neill, formerly of Irondequoit, gracefully passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the age of 81.
Sharon, the beloved wife of Edward O'Neill for many years, peacefully concluded her earthly journey at home, in the embrace of her loving family. Born to Austin and Marguerite Leschander, she has now reunited with her parents and sisters, Alice Cappon and Kathleen Price, in eternal serenity.
Sharon leaves behind her devoted husband, Edward; her daughters, Kelly Lattuca (Vince Lattuca) and Kerry Christopher (Michael Christopher); niece, Patricia Pulver Ryck; nephew, Thomas Price, and numerous cherished cousins.
The family relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina, nine years ago, where Sharon found solace in the sunshine and warmer temperatures. Known for her radiant smile, quick wit, and nurturing spirit, Sharon was a comforting presence to all who knew her. She held her friendships close to her heart and found joy in the pages of books and the exploration of new destinations. Sharon's travels took her far and wide, including two unforgettable journeys to Ireland and winters spent in Naples, FL, alongside Ed. Her deep-rooted love for her heritage, especially evident on her cherished St. Patrick's Day, will be tenderly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
Sharon was a proud graduate of Mercy High School. Later in life, she pursued her academic passions, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree from SUNY Brockport at the age of 48. At 52, she obtained her certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. In retirement, Sharon devoted herself to serving others as a middle school lunchroom assistant and cherished her water aerobics classes.
A woman of unwavering faith, Sharon's devout Catholicism provided her with strength and comfort throughout life's trials, guiding her to peace in her final days. Her legacy of love and faith will forever be cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
Friends and family are invited to honor Sharon's memory on Monday, April 1, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home located at 570 Kings Highway So. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 10:00 am at St. Kateri at Christ The King Church, followed by interment at Irondequoit Cemetery.
