Obituary of Roland S. Steorts

Roland Sterots, age 83, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, love, and service. Born on January 29, 1941 in Princeton, West Virginia, Roland's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his family, quiet quick whit, beliefs, and community.

After a successful 27-year career at Xerox and EDS, Roland retired but remained active in his community. His rich baritone voice was a cherished part of the Choir at 12 Corners Presbyterian Church, where he sang with passion and devotion for many years. Roland was also a proud and active member of the Brighton Rotary, where he dedicated countless hours to serving others and making a positive impact.

Roland's love for the arts was evident in his lifelong passion for theatre and music. Whether attending performances or supporting local productions, he found joy and inspiration in the creativity and expression of the stage.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Barbara Steorts, his devoted step-children, Fred(Carol) Skrotzki, Pete (Renee) Skrotzki, Elayne Stewart , Ellen (Christine Harper) Monroe, 9 grandchildren, Miki, Nick, Brandon, Christopher, Jared, Alex, Olivia, Hannah, Adam and a 1 great-grandchild, Apollo, and Niece, Tara Grimm, who brought immense joy to his later years. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mary, and his sister Sandra, who now welcome him into eternal rest.

Roland's life will be celebrated in a visitation and memorial service on Sunday September 8, 2024 at 1 pm at Paul Harris Funeral Home (570 Kings Hwy So.) with a short reception on premises after.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brighton Rotary P.O.Box 18943, Rochester, NY 14618 or organization of your choice, continuing Roland's legacy of service.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
