Obituary of Douglas E. Michie
Douglas E. Michie
Irondequoit: Monday, September 23, 2024 at age 71. Predeceased by his parents, Jack and Betty Michie. Doug is survived by his daughters and grandchildren, Courtney (Denise), Liam and Owen Finnerty, Rayna (Michael), Sam and Anabella LePore, Marcey (Ish), Ty, Kyana (Robbie) Hansen, and Hunter Maldonado. He will also be missed by former spouse and long-time friend Lorna.
Doug was loved for his optimism, strong will to make the best of anything, his neverending stash of corny jokes, and his direct but loving advice. He worked for 40 years in auto sales, 33 of them at Hoselton Auto Mall, where he met many friends. He loved his annual fishing trips in Canada with his dad, golfing, cheering on the Yankees and Bills, riding his motorcycles with his buddies, and was always excited to try a new restaurant. Staff and regulars at Marge's, Irondequoit Town Lounge/Murph's, Keenan's, and Parkside Diner, were like family to him.
Doug remained close with many friends over the years. He'll be missed by childhood friend Judy B, Judy M, Smiley, Kathi, Gail, CJ, and many others.
Very special thank you to close cousins Cheryl and Wendy and their families for all of the support over the years.
His family wants to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at St Johns Home, especially his PT Robin, who worked so hard with him, his favorite aide Ambrose, Shirley, Yvonne, Liz, and all of the hardworking staff on Hastings 2. We'd also like to thank Strong's compassionate ICU staff on 8-3400.
His family will receive friends Sunday, September 29, 1:00 - 3:00pm at Harris Funeral Home (570 Kings Highway So.), immediately followed by his funeral service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Humane Society At Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450.
