My mother, Diane, and Florence became fast friends when Florence became her new neighbor, about, oh...around 40 years ago. They did so many fun things together, from shopping to taking day trips, buying flowers for their gardens in the Spring, their mutual love of cats and just enjoying each other's company. My sister and I were glad that our mother had found such a wonderful, caring, loving friend. Of course, as we got to know Florence, we got to know her son, Jim. A dedicated son, Jim would always make sure Florence was well taken care of, and that included her kitties! We would kid Jim that the cats were his brothers! Over all these decades of knowing Florence and Jim, my sister Kim, my husband Scott and I considered them more family than just friends. Jim will always be our "brother" and we will always consider Florence to be our second Mom. She meant so very much to us. We already miss her terribly, but are so very, very glad that she was a part of our lives. Rest peacefully, Florence. We love you.
