Obituary of Stephen Thomas Hart Sr.
Steve went to his heavenly home with warm breezes and sunshine streaming through his window.
Steve enjoyed a full life for his 70 years. Born, raised and forever loyal to Rochester, he also enjoyed summers in the 1000 Islands with his fellow River Rats. On any given Fall Sunday you would find him rooting for his beloved Buffalo Bills with his wife, Meg and sons, Tom, Peter and Andrew. A lifelong sportsman he enjoyed skiing, flying, running, boating, hiking and hunting pheasant with his dear dogs, Molly and Sadie.
He began a rewarding career as an Audiologist, starting Hart Hearing & Balance Centers in the front rooms of his house on East Ridge Road in 1977. Along the way he earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees and built his practice to include 5 successful offices throughout the Rochester area. He loved his patients and helping them with their hearing needs. Steve was highly respected by his colleagues, taking leadership roles in many organizations.
Throughout a successful career and fulfilling interests and activities, nothing was more important to Steve than family, and a host of true friends that became like family. He was the best husband, father, Pop-Pop, and friend and he was treasured by all who had the honor to know him.
Steve is predeceased by his parents, Ed and Mary Jane Hart and aunt, Ann Stehle. He is survived by his loving wife, Meg (Noonan) Hart; beloved sons, Tom (Margaret), Peter (Abby) and Andrew (Casey); grandchildren, Amelia, Dean, Annie, Lucy, Jackson and Charlie. His dog, Sadie, will miss him terribly. He is also survived by his 6 devoted siblings, many cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many more who knew and loved him.
Steve’s illness took so much from him yet he faced it with grace, acceptance and continued to live life well. Consistent with Steve’s generous heart during life, his earthly body has been donated to UR Medicine’s Anatomical Gift Program, “so others may learn.”
His family will receive friends Wednesday, November 13, 4-7 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy So.) Friends are invited to meet the family Thursday, November 14, 10:30 am at Christ Church, 141 East Ave, Rochester NY 14604 (parking is on Lawn St.) for his Memorial Service.
