Obituary of Joyce Minnamon

Joyce (Ovenburg) Minnamon of Webster, NY  A lifelong resident of the Rochester area and a Kodak retiree died on December 27, 2024 at 85 years old. Joyce is survived by her sister, Linda Trenoskie; nephew, Matthew Trenoskie (Aruna); great nephews, Devon and Ashton Trenoskie; cousin, Judy Sanders Oaks, step-children Judy (Dave) Rothfuss, Sue (Tom) Tortora, Steve (Debbie) Minnamon; grandson; Paul (Kathy) Sleight;   great granddaughters, Emily and Lizzy Sleight. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ray Minnamon, and by her parents, Bob Ovenburg and Ruth Ferguson Ovenburg.  Joyce was a 1957 graduate of Franklin High School and earned an Associates Degree from RIT in 1959.

Joyce loved being with people and was blessed with many friends, including her best friend since elementary school days, Deanna Mariani. She invested time and energy in being in several informal small groups that she helped inspire and maintain. There was a group she graduated with from high school, a group that she met at Curves, and a group from WW.  She also was an official or unofficial aunt and grandmother, to numerous offspring of family and friends. Those relationships were important to Joyce and she was a faithful and enthusiastic part of their lives.

Joyce loved holidays, even more, she loved decorating her apartment. A visit to her home found oneself surrounded by a rotating display of keepsakes and ornaments that filled all corners of her apartment, a source of endless fascination especially for her youngest visitors.  Her collections provided a window into her love of people and the many reminders of friendships and experiences throughout her life.

Those who knew Joyce and loved her will miss her smile, her energy, her hearty laugh,her unmistakable voice, her devotion to her loved ones, and her tenacity. She battled back from health challenges in the past two years and had made amazing progress toward achieving her normal robust health.
