Obituary of Leonard J. Scardino

(Irondequoit): Passed away on January 29, 2011. Len is survived by loving family and his devoted wife of 62 years, Caroline Scardino, and four daughters, Marlene (Mike) Goho, Marie (Rick) Bartholomay, Donna Wilmot, and Diane Scardino; five adoring grandchildren, Charles (Shanna) O'Loughlin, Christopher (Heather) O'Loughlin, Richard Bartholomay II, Jayne (Jon) Koehler, and Caren (Kyle) Livingston; and three great grandchildren, Colin, Ewan, and Ryan O'Loughlin. He is also survived by his loving brother and sister, Gerald Scardino and Marie Herman; special nephew and niece, Richard Herman Jr. and Melissa Herman; and special sisters-in-law, Stella Staccone, Jennie (Sam) Garofolo, Ann (Gerry) Iuppa, and many nieces and nephews. As a member of the "Greatest Generation," Len proudly served his country during World War II and was a decorated veteran. After working in the auto industry as an insurance appraiser, he retired and devoted time to his family and hobbies, especially woodworking.
His family will receive friends TUESDAY 2-4 & 7-9 at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family WEDNESDAY 10:30 AM at PEACE OF CHRIST PARISH AT ST. AMBROSE CHURCH for his Funeral Mass. Interment Irondequoit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Veterans Outreach Center, 459 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620, in Len's name.
