Lylak, Sr., John S.
Irondequoit: Monday, February 14, 2011 at the age of 77. John was born on August 8, 1933 to George & Cecilia Lylak. Predeceased by his daughter Susan. John is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Marlene, son, John Jr. and his fiance Laura Flick and many other relatives and friends. He served in the Navy during 1952-1956 on the US Arcadia as a 2nd class Petty Officer. John worked at General Dynamics as a supervisor and was the owner of John Lylak's Liquor Store and later became a real estate agent and appraiser. Upon his "retirement", he became a city school bus driver. He was a member of the Melvin Michalski Post 1328 and an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and a Communicant at St. Cecila Church. John was an avid sportsman and loved his basketball, football, golf, bowling and summers at the cottage at Blind Sodus Bay boating with his family and friends.
The family wishes to extend a warm thank you to Bill Steger who was his caregiver and Teale from Home Care for their help during his recent illness.
His family will receive friends Thursday 3:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family Friday 10:00am at Blessed Kateri at St. Cecilia Church for his funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
