Acord, Laura Ames Nashville, TN: formerly of Irondequoit. It is with great sadness that the family of Laura Ames Acord announces her passing February 13, 2011, at age 46. Pre-deceased by her father Ralph Ames. Laura is survived by her loving husband Matthew Acord of Nashville TN, mother Carol Ames, parents-in-law David and Ramona Acord of Dayton OH , sisters Cindy Ames (Irondequoit), Judy Ames and partner Laura Whitbeck (Irondequoit), Chris Ames Whitlock and husband Jonathan of Bernardsville NJ, Kathy Ames Morris and husband Steven of Canastota NY, Tricia Ames Fischer and husband Daniel (Pittsford). She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and one great-nephew. Laura was born in Rochester and attended East Irondequoit schools. She was a 1982 Eastridge HS graduate and attended SUNY Buffalo. She was a creative individual who worked within the music industry as an orchestra administrator. Among the many orchestral organizations for whom she worked were: Buffalo Philharmonic, Poughkeepsie Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Soviet-American Youth Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra, and the New York Pops. Later she focused on a career in marketing administration. She was a 9/11/2001 survivor, having escaped the World Trade Center where she was working for Deutsche Bank. The family thanks doctors, nurses and staff at Nashville's Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital (stroke unit). Her family will receive friends SUNDAY 1-3 at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South), where her memorial service will be held SUNDAY 3:00 PM.
